who has the ps3 slim?

ive been intrested in it and i have a few questions about it

carolina should be getting his this week and will post details on it, he's already said he's ordered it and i asked him in his topic because i was interested too b/c im fearful my ps3 will give out soon, been making some strained noises when playing disc based games, as if its have trouble reading them and allowing me to play =/

It will be here today but I wont be able to get on till tomorrow, if you guys have any questions about it tomorrow will be the best time to ask, UPS says it is out for delivery UPS usually doesnt run where I live till late, so it will arrive while I am at work, I will be setting it up tomorrow after I take my daughter to daycare which is about 8 so I will post some details about it tomorrow

1. ok first thing is first, getting it out of the package you can tell
that it is smaller and lighter than the first versions of the ps3 which
is a plus because I mean does it need to be that heavy.

2. only has two USB ports but I mean why would you need more than 2 to
begin with so that is fine by me I never used the 4 that came with my
60 GB anyway.

3. You have buttons now to turn on the system and eject discs instead
of being able to just touch a part of the system to eject the disc,
however you can still turn it on by the button in the middle of the
controller so this I still find is ok because I had a hard time finding
the buttons to touch in the dark because when I play at night I never
have the lights on so this is a plus because you can feel where the
buttons are.

4. I dont know if it is just me but the controller that came with the
new PS3 is lighter than the one that I bought for my 60 GB, it is still
a dualshock but it says that it is a dualshock 3 instead of a 2 so that
probably makes a difference.

5. In the picture on tv commercials it shows the stand that the PS3
sits on, it does NOT come with the PS3 you have to purchase that
separate, it will still stand up but I dont think that it is as sturdy,
right now I have it standing up.

6. The fan is in the back of the PS3 not on the sides, I ran my ps3
for a couple hours, it seemed to be a little bit cooler than the
original PS3s but when the fan is on, you can barely hear it, actually
I couldnt hear it at all so that is a plus, with my other one you could
hear it across the room.

7. Dont be dissapointed when you open this baby up and think that it
is a 120 GB because it wont be, first thing that I did was go to system
and then system information and it said there was 111 GB total and 96
free after I created my 3 user names, BF 1943 and prince of persia.
But some of that is to be expected since most of the GBs went to the
settings and stuff for the PS3.

8. I think we all know what the PS2 slim looked like, it is almost a
carbon copy of it, there is no more shiny black for the outside, to me
it looks cheap, but it serves its purpose, there is really no need for
it to look fancy since it is just a gaming system.

After all of that I really cant find anything wrong with the system so
far, it has worked pretty good for me, the major test will be tomorrow
when I play for a lot longer. For me I think that it would be a good
move for anyone looking to upgrade from an older PS3 to a new one.
Also I would like to mention that you should get it from Wal-Mart, I
got the 3 year extended warranty for only 28 dollars, I think if you go
to Game Stop it is around 50 so it is a major savings. Even if you do
a 2 year plan it is only 19 so either one is a good buy.

So out of a 10 possible points, 10 being the best I would give the slim
a 9, mainly because of the looks of it being kind of cheap but as I
stated it serves its purpose.

3 year warrenty for $28 damn. ive been wondering on buying one because im running out of space on my 40GB and the warrenty. ill wait a while and see if these slims break easliy. and oh yeah thanks you answered all my questions in your post

it isnt 120 GB b/c the ps3 needs an operating system, something to start it up. all systems need this and guess what it takes memory. every ps3 is not exactly the advertised amount of space, im sure the 20 GB came with 13 GBs free, the 40 - 33, the 60 - 52, and the 80- 72 etc etc.

yeah Q, thats what I meant, I guess I didnt state it that way or something, but I didnt know if anyone else knew that either, I knew that it wouldnt be exactly 120 just letting people know what I got before they went out and bought one and was dissapointed

^ Everything sounds good by your post. I especially like that you can't really hear the fan when it's on.

I have been playing the last couple of days and since I had the controller charged on tuesday, as of last night when I was playing it still had 3 bars left so I think that the controller battery life is longer too

Yup.... Same thing with pc's.
